Union Label Committee

The Union Label Committee informs and educates members about the products and services we buy and use as consumers. This committee helps to emphasize the importance of supporting goods and services produced by union members under union-won working conditions. And, keeps members informed of union products and their availability in the community. This committee also updates members on product manufacturing that has been moved out of the United States and product boycotts endorsed by the AFL-CIO.

Summer Is Upon Us

This month we celebrate Father’s Day and the Fourth of July holiday is just around the corner! If you do a backyard BBQ always try to buy union made products. There are several different items to choose from.

Some other events and festivals you might be interested in attending this month are:
Frankenmuth Bavarian held in June.
Tall Ships will be coming to Bay City in July.
Saugatuck Expo goes to the end of June.
Cedar Polka Fest from 6/20 – 6/23.
Yankee Doodle Days in Grand Ledge 6/17 – 6/23
National Cherry Festival in Traverse City 6/29 – 7/6
Battle Creek Balloon Festival 7/3 -7/7

Other places of interest for you to enjoy traveling to in Michigan are:

Fort Michlimackinaw in Mackinaw City.
Tahquamenon Falls both the lower and upper in Paradise.
Fred Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids.
Hartwick Pines in Grayling.
Detroit Zoo

If you are interesting in lighthouses Michigan has a number of them, some are open to the public for touring.

How about finding Michigan waterfalls other than the Tahquamenon Falls? Travel US-2 and there are several along the way. Some are a little hike off of the road so wear comfortable shoes.

This is just a few of the attractions that Michigan has to offer.

There are a lot more.

Michigan has a lot of history and culture that many of us aren’t even aware of. As state employees take some time out of your summer to visit a few of them. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Just remember to buy Union, American or Michigan made products if you can. Let’s keep American’s men and women working!

Have a safe and fun summer.

What are the union labels?
